Holistic Dialogue

A PSYCHEDELIC CONVERSATION

arrow pointing downwards
Holistic Dialogue (HD) is a place where individuals and groups can investigate and explore themselves and society in the moment, without relying on past knowledge.

Elementary Description

Holistic Dialogue (HD) is a super-charged conversation that goes way beyond your usual communications. It is about diving deep into what is really important right now, whether it is how we interact with each other or solving big problems in the world. But here's the twist: it's not just about discussing, arguing, or debating. It's a whole new way of communicating and learning that most of us aren't used to. Every time we do it, it's like hitting the refresh button on our thinking, which can totally change how we see things and act. In a Holistic Dialogue, people might feel a sense of peace or growth, but that's not the main goal. The real aim is to keep exploring without any set plans or expectations, both for ourselves and as a group. It's like starting with a clean slate every time we dive in. If you're curious to give it a try, jump ahead to "Now What?" Otherwise, keep reading to learn more about Holistic Dialogue.

Dialogue vs Coaching vs Counseling

Coaching and Counseling focus on helping people with their thoughts and feelings as they are right now. But Holistic Dialogue (HD) goes a step further. It's all about understanding everything about our minds and even more, if that's even possible.

Counseling

Counseling focuses on what happened before and how it affects what might happen in the future. It helps us live peacefully without any trouble in our surroundings.

Coaching

Coaching mostly looks ahead to what's coming in the future. Sometimes, it also looks back to deal with any beliefs holding us back, so we can reach our goals and move forward.

Dialoguing

HD isn't really about focusing on what happened before or what's coming up next. Instead, it's about understanding how everything fits and move together right now, both for individuals and groups.

When we talk about Holistic Dialogue, we're not just sticking to some boring definition. It's about looking at things in a fresh way, beyond what we think we know. Sometimes what's happening right now might just be a repeat of the past, keeping us stuck in the same old patterns. Holistic Dialogue helps shake things up by looking at the big picture, not just the little details. It's like hitting the refresh button on how we see things.

What makes HD really tough yet powerful is how it deals with how a person, and then a bunch of people, operate. Instead of just analyzing data and info, it looks at the whole picture of what's happening. See, once you start using knowledge to understand things, it becomes a sort of framework that limits how you see stuff, no matter how relevant or flexible it is. This overlooks our natural knack for observing, which is at the root of our guesses, thoughts, decisions, and shared understanding.
HD is about coming together right where we are, figuring out together what could be blocking us, which usually boils down to our habit of thinking separately. Listening becomes essential, not just something we're supposed to do. That is when each person would possibly learns how to take action in a whole new way.

What About the How?

What sets HD apart is how deeply it delves into the way we think and use language. Usually, we don't realize that our lives are shaped by our thoughts, so we don't question them much. Our upbringing and experiences are all reflected in our thoughts. But without grasping this basic idea, it's hard for dialogues, not to mention daily life at large, to flow smoothly. That's where the Holistic Dialogue facilitator comes in—they're there to help everyone understand what's going on and what might need extra attention. But remember, their role isn't set in stone because Holistic Dialogue doesn't follow strict rules.
